MORT MINTZ - William Kristol...published a ...manifesto, "Why Bush Will Be a Winner," in The Washington Post. It reassured us that the Bush presidency would "probably be a successful one" and that "we now seem to be on course to a successful outcome" in Iraq. . . As early as 1997. . . Kristol was one of the most prominent of the neo-con ideologues who were publicly advocating that we go to war against Iraq. . . In the days before the invasion, Kristol said that "We'll be vindicated when we discover the weapons of mass destruction" and that "very few wars were prepared better or more thoroughly than this one."

PAUL KRUGMAN 2006 - William Kristol of The Weekly Standard is the exception; he says that we never made a "serious effort" in Iraq, which will come as news to the soldiers.

This is the man who blamed american liberals for the Khmer Rouge and the Ayatollah Khomeini, who will say just about anything, however bizarre or illogical or wild or (I'm guessing) cynical, to push the only ideas in his head. . . What's striking about Kristol is that he's has been wrong about everything. . . .
