PALESTINE IS ALSO OBSERVING A 60TH ANNIVERSARY
BASSEM NAEEM, GUARDIAN, UK As the Palestinian people prepare to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Nakba ("catastrophe") - the dispossession and expulsion of most of our people from our land - those remaining in Palestine face escalating aggression, killings, imprisonment, ethnic cleansing and siege. But instead of support and solidarity from the western media, we face frequent attempts to defend the indefensible or turn fire on the Palestinians themselves.
One recent approach, which seems to be part of the wider attempt to isolate the elected Palestinian leadership, is to portray Hamas and the population of the Gaza strip as motivated by anti-Jewish sentiment, rather than a hostility to Zionist occupation and domination of our land. . .
The Israeli media and pro-Israel western press are full of views that deny or seek to excuse well-established facts of history including the Nakba of 1948 . . . But it should be made clear that neither Hamas nor the Palestinian government in
And at the same time as we unreservedly condemn the crimes perpetrated by the Nazis against the Jews of Europe, we categorically reject the exploitation of the Holocaust by the Zionists to justify their crimes and harness international acceptance of the campaign of ethnic cleansing and subjection they have been waging against us - to the point where in February the Israeli deputy defence minister Matan Vilnai threatened the people of Gaza with a "holocaust". . .
The Palestinian people aspire to freedom, independence and peaceful coexistence with all their neighbours. There are, today, more than six million Palestinian refugees. No less than 700,000 Palestinians have been detained at least once by the Israeli occupation authorities since 1967. Hundreds of thousands have so far been killed or wounded. Little concern seems to be caused by all of this or by the erection of an apartheid wall that swallows more than 20% of the
The plight of our people is not the product of a religious conflict between us and the Jews in
After almost a century of Zionist colonial and racist oppression, some Palestinians find it hard to imagine that some of their oppressors are the sons and daughters of those who were themselves oppressed and massacred. . .

Thank you Prorev for continuing to cover the Middle East's first illegal occupation, and its victims, the Palestinians. Palestine seems to have been forgotten, with the brutality of U.S. occupations now in the spotlight.
Coming soon to this comment thread: an anti-antisemitic diatribe from the AIPAC whore assigned to this site.
"The Palestinian people aspire to freedom, independence and peaceful coexistence with all their neighbours."
If that were true then they would immediately formally recognize Israel. The fact that they haven't proves conclusively that they aren't interested in peace, but only want war. Obviously, they could have peace today if they wanted. The endless lies of the anti-Semites notwithstanding.
(Yes, anonymous. Claiming the Palestinians want peace and that the Israelis don't is blatant anti-Semitism. Deny it all you want.)
AIPAC whore alert at 9:50AM. Good call, 6:28!
Being a so-called AIPAC whore is not as bad as whoring one's intellect to justify support of Palestinian terrorism, in spite of the evidence that plainly demonstrates the Palestinian 'state' (which is, in itself, a myth) is interested in nothing less than the all out destruction of the Jews, as is the Arabic world in its' entirety. The idea of which no doubt fills crypto-nazis such as 928 and 751 with truly whorish, and immoderate glee.
It's quite telling how desperate the Apartheid state of Israel has become when someone has to be dispatched to counter a handful of arguments on a blog.
While Israel has gleefully adopted every page of the Nazi playbook in its treatment of the dispossessed, indigenous Palestinian people, right down to running the world's largest concentration camp in Gaza, its AIPAC shills are running about smearing its critics with the "Nazi" tag. Too bad no one is buying it anymore.
Despite what the AIPAC shills would have you believe, Israeli state terrorism is still terrorism, not "self-defense." The was no so-called "Palestinian terrorism" before Zionist terrorists stole the land from the millions of non-Jewish people already living in the region.
As Hemingway once noted, 'Every whore finds his vocation'; and the neo-nazi antisemitic shills spewing here have demonstrated that they've most certainly found theirs.
Our AIPAC apologist for Israel's genocide against the Palestinians strikes again at 7:58. Really earning that paycheck this week!
Sixty years of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide are not enough on the resume of the Zionist supremacists, now they want to kick start the third world war by attacking Iran, just for kicks.
It shows an incredible paucity of imagination on your part, 10:18, to think that the only people here who could possibly be in disagreement with your crypto-nazi blatherings must perforce be in the employ of AIPAC. But then again, paucity of imagination is usually spawned by paucity of intellect, and the brownshirts were pretty notorious for that quality, yourself being decidedly no exception but rather exemplar of that fact.
it has gotten so comically insincere now, every time someone dares squeak the old ‘anti semite’ babble, a laugh track should accompany it...
No doubt you find the whole concept of anti-semitism truly amusing, 12:00.
