DESPERADO'S PAGE, HOUSTON CHRONICLE Bill Kristol had some interesting things to say yesterday on Fox News Sunday concerning the possibility of a U.S. attack on Iran. According to Mr. Kristol if President Bush foresees the likelihood of an Obama election, he may decide to go ahead with such an attack. However, if the President thinks Sen. McCain will be the winner, he would leave the Iranian situation for President McCain to handle.

There is good news and bad news about Kristol's possible scenario. The good news is that anyone who has bet the house on Kristol's prior predictions is probably standing on the street corner with a cardboard sign in hand right about now. The bad news is that Kristol is not the first person to put forth such a possibility.

Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton had this to say yesterday, also on Fox News, about the possibility of an Israeli strike against Iran:

"I think if they [Israel] are to do anything, the most likely period is after our elections and before the inauguration of the next President. I don't think they will do anything before our election because they don't want to affect it. And they'd have to make a judgement whether to go during the remainder of President Bush's term in office or wait for his successor."

This goes along with what Daniel Pipes, director of the Middle East Forum and a distinguished fellow at the Hoover Institution told the National Review on June 4th. Pipes said the following:

"What I suspect will be the case is, should the Democratic nominee win in November, President Bush will do something. And should it be Mr. McCain that wins, he'll punt and let McCain decide what to do."

Any Congressional Democrats reading this need to get off their butts and impeach Bush and Cheney now. It is the only way to guarantee that we will have both a new President and no war in Iran come January.

The Democrats have made it perfectly clear that they have no interest in disrupting any significant portion of the Bush plan. A pox upon their house.
