Pat Elder I applied to teach in the DC Public Schools earlier this year. After several months of inactivity I received the notice below from DCPS. I hold a Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate and a Masters in Political Science. I have seven years of classroom experience and stellar recommendations. I also have 20 years of corporate management experience. None of the four points below apply to me,

Dear Patrick Elder, Thank you for your interest in joining DC Public Schools. Based on a review of your application, it appears that you are not eligible for consideration. The following requirements must be met in order to be considered for a Teaching or Related Service Provider position:

1 - You CANNOT be a current DCPS Teacher or Related Service Provider: Current employees are eligible to transfer until July 7th, however this application cannot be used for the transfer process. Our application system is specifically designed for new employees. Current employees may contact schools directly to apply for any open position.

2 - You must have a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

3 - You must hold current certification in the area you wish to teach, be enrolled in an education program to complete your certification requirements, or have passed the Praxis I & II in the subject you wish to teach and have substantial coursework in that subject area.

4 - You must have current authorization to work in the United States.
