TSA INTRODUCES MORE HASSLES FOR PASSENGERS

USA Today - A new, more aggressive effort by airport screeners aims to halt randomly selected passengers for a security check just before they step onto their departing plane, according to a government memo obtained by USA Today. . .

Passengers can be selected at random or for suspicious behavior, according to a TSA memo. The program primarily targets riskier flights, according to the memo, which doesn't specify how flights are singled out. . .

The new effort raises concerns about passengers feeling hassled and flights being delayed. "I hope the TSA can work with airports and airlines to ensure that flights that may already be late aren't targeted," said Christopher Bidwell, security chief for the Airports Council International trade group.

IDIOTS!
If they are concerned that airport staff are smuggling/passing weapons/contraband, then they need to screen the WORKERS too.
KISS! (keep it simple stupid)
SCREEN EVERYBODY, EVERYTIME. Problem solved.

And how come there is so much baggage pilferage/theft/loss if there is sooooooo much security??

Like I said.....IDIOTS!
It's just more "security theater".

I heard that use those new body scanners so pervs can look at you underneath your clothes. I guess there will be a lot of pedophiles applying for TSA positions so they can peek at the kids through the body scanners.

This is just another means to legitimize profiling. If you are brown, look like you are from a "Muslim country" or wear a religiously mandated headscarf, don't be surprised with further delays. I can only hope that one of these days they will actually start catching the real bad guys instead of wasting so much energy on the good ones.

Most of the people who work for the TSA are ididots. I would not trust them to do security for a night club much less protecting something important. Just the fact that they are screening people a second time after going through the first round screening tells me that they are not confident about their system. These people just introduce delays and frustrations.

Most of the time they are rude and stupid as well. The TSA really has no standard nor someone to really awnser to.

Seems more people in this country are so ignorant. First...they elect a socialist as president. Then, complain about flying. If you don't want to be searched....then don't fly. This country is very ripe for attacks...because all the liberals are now so happy with their "messiah". The only difference between....oBama and oSama......is BS!!!

This airport screening is so Stupid In San Francisco I was forced to stand in an air chamber while wafts of air blew over different parts of my body this was after my single carry on a laptop computer was dissected. Then I was forced to give my shoes to a Schmuck who rubbed some kind of white cotton paper all over them He then rubbed all over my laptop bag and said he was looking for explosivce residue . So what if they would have found some traces of gunpowder ? Would I have been sent to Gitmo and held as a terrorist ???I am a white 58 year old grandfather .This all took place in plain sight while several men dressedf in full muslim type attire walked by the screening tables with hand trucks and duct taped boxes 8 feet high. They werent even given a second glance by ther DOHS dopes who were harrasing me.

If the screeners respected the public it would be different. I do not appreciate being talked to as if I am a 4 year old. I am subjected to "random special screening" virtually every single time I fly out of my home airport, yet am never selected at any other airport.

Are you going to tell me that the world is safer because I flew with 2 oz of a liquid instead of 4 or whatever the limits are? Are you going to tell me the world is safer because you force people to stand on the filthy airport floor in their socks? I rarely fly anymore - primarily because of the hassle involved. Airline want to know why travel is down? Look at the security hassles associated with it.

The TSA is a bloated self serving agency with too many employees, too much money and an ill defined mission trying justify their existence. There are not enough passengers flying to keep the bloated staff busy, so add more harassment.

Tell me why I need to be checked by a towel head at my own local airport, I am a 64 year old retired grandfather. Every other country uses security based on WHO they consider a risk. If your looking for a white man in a white car why stop any one else...?? If we get rid of all the liberal lawmakers and the Socialist President things would not be this way.

In my opinion, the early hiring of screeners was not the best laid plan, there was a scurry for getting enough people for getting the job of keeping the traveling public safe. Do you remember the national guard or army at the airports in the beginning, running vehicle checkpoints before you arrive at the airport. A lot of things has changed in the part 6 years. Many screeners have college educations or are working and going to school at the same time. How can you judge all screeners by the actions of a few? Many of my friends are dedicated to keeping people and transportation safe for everyone to enjoy, whether you are on the ground or in the sky. There are many more aspects to TSA and there are many good people working for TSA, they are underpaid but still hardworking, working for a good cause, to prevent the hostile acts of 9/11 from happening again. before you go bashing the methods and reasons for screening, maybe you should refresh your memories of the thousands of people that lost their lives, not only in the sky, but on the ground on 9/11. I agree with a previous post about the ones bashing these hardworking, underpaid people, you would not last 1 day performing this kind of public service. They put thier lives on the line, every day they go to work, just like any law officer, not knowing what the day will bring and will they make it home after a days work.

Why don't all you fucking selfish, "don't bother me I'm on my cellphone", "do I look like a terrorist?" cry babies get in your fucking car and drive 12 or 14 hours or let Greyhound do the driving. I would love to see the type of security procedures in place here that a country like Israel uses. Open your mouth then and see what happens. You bitchers make me sick. Keep your mouth shut, listen, do as you are asked, or yes, even told, and you can get through security alot faster. I guess it's just a reflection of American culture that most people are so caught up in themselves that they think they have the "right" to fly or park in front of the airport. Flying is a PRIVILEGE, not a right. Get your head out of your ass.

I find it so comical that just about all the comments I have read are people who have an axe to grind with TSA. How clueless can you people be. Airports are not shopping malls and when it comes to the safety of the Airline Industries, and passengers. TSA is there to make sure you make it to your love ones, homes, and jobs. Again I say! "How Clueless You People are".

To the right-wing animals calling Obama socialist, wake the fuck up. Stop listening to Rush Limbaugh and read a book. You are right about dumb Americans looking to Obama as a messiah, even though he hasn't done much to alleviate their crappy existences but he is no socialist. If he was socialist, he would enact policies to improve the lives of the millions of Americans living in poverty. He would end the American plutocracy and enact single-payer nationalized health care. Furthermore, a true socialist would end the waste of trillions of dollars on an overbloated military that just serves the military industrial complex and tortures and kills. The money wasted on Iraq could have been used to turn the US into a paradise. Obama sucks, he is only slightly less right-wing than the fascists you pieces of shit like. You sound like such little bitches whining about how "socialist" Obama is. Stupid idiots... you disgust me.

4:54 Spot on!

I am so sick of no nothing right wingers calling Obama a socialist. I wish Obama was a socialist, so he might actually do regular folk some good that way.

Obama is a capitalist big business centrist who is a whole lot brighter, but unfortunately only slightly less awful and morally bankrupt then Bush. The fact that he has filled his cabinet with corrupt Clintonites says it all.

I empathize with all of you who have so much hassle at the airport with rude security screeners. I can't say as I share the problem though, since I fly by private jet when I need to travel distances where car travel isn't effective. Most of my business associates travel by private jet too. Our time is just plain too valuable to spend in airport delays. I would say that our travel has been a lot safer since the screening was instituted. Even though we travel by private jet, we still use many of the same facilities and would certainly be inconvenienced by a terror attack.
