Library of Congress - The digital collections of the Library of Congress contain a wide variety of material associated with Franklin Pierce. This resource guide compiles links to digital materials related to Pierce such as manuscripts, broadsides, government documents, and images that are available throughout the Library of Congress Web site. In addition, it provides links to external Web sites focusing on Pierce and a bibliography containing selected works for both a general audience and younger readers. . . Probably missing from the collection, however, is this handy tip on how to remember Franklin Pierce's place as the 14th president: He has fourteen letters in is name. And if you're too busy to go through the library's digital collection here are some fun facts about Pierce gathered by Yahoo Geocities:

- first President to have a Christmas tree in the White House.

- died of cirrhosis of the liver as a result of years of heavy drinking.

- arrested while in office for running over an old woman with his horse, but his case was dropped due to insufficient evidence.

- installed the first central-heating system in the White House.
