Your editor has been a musician for many decades. He started the first band his Quaker school ever had and played drums with bands up until 1980 when he switched to stride piano. He had his own band until the mid-1990s and has played with the New Sunshine Jazz Band, Hill City Jazz Band, Not So Modern Jazz Band and the Phoenix Jazz Band.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on state legislators who were willing to cut $10 billion from education but reluctant to slice $1.2 billion from prisons: "They don't have the guts to go out there and create the prison reform that they have been talking about now for two decades. They don't have the guts now to make those decisions, because they are now more worried about safe seats than safe streets."

Demagogues unite! You have nothing to lose but your jobs!
Generally, K-12 students don't pose a threat to life, health & property. Convicted robbers, rapists, and murderers do.
But we can easily save a lot of money throughout the legal system from cops to prisons: Legalize All Drugs Now. It was insanity to ban them in the first place.
