22 YEAR OLD RUNS FOR MINNEAPOLIS MAYOR ON 'IS AWESOME' TICKET
Then there is the fledgling candidacy of one Joey Lombard, a 22-year-old unemployed musician who lists his "political party or principle" as "Is Awesome."
On his Facebook page, Lombard counsels that voters "just fill in 'Joey Lombard is Awesome' as your first choice for mayor, and leave the rest of the ballot blank, it's that simple!"
I called Joey Lombard and asked him what makes him awesome.
"Just in general," he said. "Everybody I know thinks so."

Hey, don't knock it; this strategy worked for Obama!
I am a serious candidate for Mayor of Minneapolis. This article in the absence of any discussion of the issues facing the city is disturbing. As well as being an employed musician, I have run a business for almost 30 years and have been involved at various levels in political and civic endeavors. This is the first year Minneapolis has used RCV as a voting method and that changes the dynamic of any election. The people of Minneapolis should be embarrassed and angry that this is the kind of coverage the local news media is giving an important election.
I too am a serious candidate for mayor of Minneapolis, but I thought the article was very well-written and detailed all of the important facts in the election.
1) I am awesome.
How could anyone be embarrassed or angered by this coverage? If anything, I think the city deserves MORE news dedicated to how awesome I am.
Vote Brent Perry! http://socialistaction.blogspot.com/2009/07/brent-perry-for-minneapolis-city_12.html
