WHAT AMERICANS DID LAST WEEK

Rasmussen Reports - So what were Americans up to over the past week?
85% of Americans watched the news on television, that's for sure. Adults over 40 were more likely to do so than those who are younger. Fifty-nine percent of voters have already told us that they plan to get most of their political news this year from television.

Sixty-three percent played a sport or did physical exercise of some kind during the past week. There was very little difference between men and women on this.

Sixty percent of Americans went out to eat.Eighty-six percent of those making $100,000-plus per year dined out last week.

Fifty-three percent had friends come to their home. Adults ages 18 to 29 were far more social than those in other age groups.

Still, 59% of Americans found the time to read a book in the past week. Government employees were much more likely to be reading than those who work in the private sector.

Only 46% percent, however, attended a religious service in the past week. Fifty-one percent did not. Adults over 65 were far more likely to have gone to such a service than those who are younger.

Far fewer adults (14%) say they went to a movie in a theater in the past week.

Only five percent of Americans went to a concert in the past week. That number held relatively steady across all demographic groups.

40% of adults had an alcoholic beverage in the past week. Fifty-nine percent say they didn't indulge. Men were more likely to have a drink than women, Republicans more than Democrats, married Americans more than unmarrieds (especially if they have children in the home).

I'm over 40 and haven't watched any TV news in at least 2 years.
