WHO NEEDS THE LAW WHEN YOU HAVE TRANSPARENCY?

At the end of the day, wherever this case is tried, in whatever forum, what we have to ensure is that it's done as transparently as possible and with adherence to all the rules. If we do that, I'm not sure the location or even the forum is as important as what the world sees in that proceeding. - Attorney General Eric Holder on whether the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed should be held before a military commission or a civilian court

For any show trial, its pretty much by definition that what's important to those staging the show trial is 'what the world sees in that proceeding.'

The problems with a 'show trial' occur when the side with all the power and force gets to control things such that the world see only what it wants it to see.

In a fair trial, the defense has the opportunity to present its own case to the world, without the interference of those with power who want to tightly control what the world sees and hears.
